Our Testimonies

Dan: I was saved at the age of four at home where my parents frequently invited missionaries to visit and passed on to me their heart for missions. I attended a Christian college where I enjoyed the opportunities offered in weekly Christian service activities and the campus Mission Prayer Band. While in college, I also had the privilege of attending BIMI's Camp BIMI, a missions institute taught by veteran missionaries. It was here that the Lord gave me a desire to reach those that have never heard the gospel. After graduating with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Missions, the Lord opened the door for me to come to Trinity Baptist Church in Oxford, Alabama. Under the direction of my pastor, Dr. C. O. Grinstead, I was able to apply my college training to ministry at the church by teaching in our Christian school, speaking in church and school services and working in AWANA. I was also responsible for technical aspects of our church's radio ministry: two FM stations reaching 24 counties with the Gospel. This is what God used to show me the unparalleled opportunity of bringing the gospel to the lost through Christian radio.

Amie: I received the Lord as my Savior at the age of eight. The Lord used several missions trips during my high school years to expose me to missions and worldwide evangelization. While a nursing major at a Christian college, God showed me how I could use my medical training as a tool to make a difference, not just physically through healthcare, but also spiritually through the gospel. During my junior year I realized the Lord wanted me to serve Him in full-time medical missions. After graduation in May of 1999, I took a short-term missions trip to Togo, West Africa, where I assisted in a mission hospital. The Lord used this time to give me a burden for the African people. Since that time, I have earned my license as a registered nurse and worked as charge nurse in two local hospitals. This has allowed me not only to expand my medical skills and experience, but also to share the hope of eternal life with those suffering from physical needs. Now I am able to apply my medical experience and training to ministry here in Uganda.

Our Ministry

We are working as part of a missionary team in Soroti, Uganda. In addition to pastoring the Soroti Independent Baptist Church, Dan teaches in the Bible Institute and manages a Christian Radio station that is designed to further the church planting works here in the Soroti Area. Currently, there are four planted churches as well as other preaching points. Amie helps with a Ladies' Bible Study and also has had a ministry to the nurses at the Soroti Regional Hospital. We also work with the Soroti Orphan Assistance Project, a local-church orphanage designed to prepare future pastors, missionaries, and church leaders.

Our Goals

Our current step is to train men in the Word of God. As God calls men into the ministry, our desire is to work with them in planting an indigenous church. The radio station further expands the scope of ministry by providing Bible teaching both for evangelism of the lost and for the spiritual growth of believers. We have received word of multiple villages in the far reaches of our coverage area where a group of believers has been saved through the ministry of this radio station and are now meeting together to worship. For the long-term aspect of church planting, we are also assisting with an orphanage where daily we are able to teach children the Word of God. So many of those currently in our Bible Institute have no Bible background or have come from a church with false teaching. For those who have come from these backgrounds, training for the ministry takes several years. By reaching these children when they are young and having the opportunity to train them throughout 13 years of schooling, they will be able to prepare for the ministry much more quickly once they are adults. Our prayer is that these children will be the future pastors and missionaries of Uganda.
